UPH\u2019s Smoke-Free Policy: Fostering a Healthy, Respectful,<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

and Clean Campus Environment<\/h2>\n\n\n

TANGERANG, 2023 <\/strong>– Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) maintains a firm and comprehensive commitment to a smoke-free policy, ensuring that its entire campus, its buildings, grounds, and affiliated facilities, remains a healthy and comfortable space for students, staff, and visitors. The policy is embedded under Article 13 of the Student Code of Ethics<\/a><\/strong>, which requires all students to be prohibited from smoking in campus areas <\/strong>as part of their ethical obligations. The policy is also socialized in each faculty\u2019s student handbook<\/strong>, as well as the UPH Fest 2023\/2024 Student Handbook (page 12)<\/a><\/strong> – socialized to students in the beginning of their entry year. Moreover, in the Rector Regulation 010 in 2021, Article 2.11<\/a><\/strong>, in which regulates how the campus needs to be environment-friendly, and smoke-free – both from cigarettes and other air pollutions. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

UPH\u2019s approach goes beyond mere regulation: it is part of a broader culture of wellness and prevention. Since the \u201cStay Away: No S.A.D. Be SMART\u201d campaign<\/strong>, the university has been actively promoting \u201cNon-Smoking Campus<\/strong>\u201d slogans displayed in strategic locations across campus, running awareness and education programs about the dangers of smoking, alongside consistent enforcement and penalties for violations. <\/a>UPH underscores this commitment with additional formal regulations: all students, staff, and faculty are prohibited from smoking or consuming narcotics anywhere on campus, including teaching hospitals, cafeterias, university vehicles, and all university-owned grounds. Violations of this policy may lead to serious disciplinary action, including possible dismissal. <\/a>  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The smoke-free policy is not just about restriction; it reflects UPH\u2019s holistic vision of well-being. By providing an environment free from smoke exposure, UPH helps protect non-smokers from passive smoking risks, supports healthier lifestyles among its community, and reinforces an institutional culture of responsibility.
