UPH Welcomes 25 Myanmar Scholarship Recipients<\/h2>\n\n\n

TANGERANG, 2023 – <\/strong>Over the past three years, Myanmar\u2019s education system has faced severe disruptions due to health and political crises. In 2020, schools were shut down as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, and the following year, a military coup once again forced many institutions to close. According to a 2021 report by the United Nations Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF), as cited by DW (April 3, 2022), around 12 million children were out of school for 18 months due to the combined impact of the pandemic, protests, and conflict. By December 2021, student attendance was estimated to have dropped to just 40\u201350 percent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Recognizing this situation, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH)<\/strong>\u2014a world-class institution committed to making a positive impact in Indonesia and across Southeast Asia\u2014launched a special initiative to support students from Myanmar whose education had been disrupted by the country\u2019s instability.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Through this initiative, UPH offers 25 full undergraduate scholarships<\/strong> to Myanmar students in programs such as Management, Food Technology, Hospitality Management, Nursing,<\/strong> and Education<\/strong> at the International Teachers College (ITC)<\/strong>. The selected students are set to begin their studies in August 2023<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The scholarship recipients were carefully chosen from 65 applicants<\/strong> based on their academic achievements, English proficiency, essays, and interviews. Upon completing their studies, they will have the opportunity to work in Indonesia or internationally, with the hope that they will eventually return to Myanmar to contribute to the nation\u2019s rebuilding and development.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
