TANGERANG, 2024 – Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH), through its Alumni Family Association (IKA UPH) and Alumni Relations, convened “IKA UPH TALKS” to strengthen relationships among graduates and encourage contributions to broader societal goals. The event, held on 7 May 2024, brought together alumni from 1996 to 2018, including graduates recognized for their impact in fields directly related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as education, social work, environmentalism, and business transformation.

The event served as a platform to educate and motivate alumni to apply sustainability principles in their careers. UPH Rector, Dr. (Hon) Ir. Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., emphasized that UPH is committed to preparing graduates to be “servants of society”. This commitment aligns with the university’s goal of fostering graduates who actively contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.

Eric Jobiliong, Ph.D., Vice President of Academics, Research, & Innovation, encouraged IKA UPH to be a bridge between alumni and the university, suggesting initiatives like a “practitioner-teacher” program. Such programs offer a direct channel for alumni to share practical knowledge, including the implementation of sustainable practices in their industries, with current students.

Dr. Stefanie Hartanto, S.H., M.Kn., Chairperson of IKA UPH, highlighted the university’s mission to shape responsible individuals who contribute to their communities. The IKA UPH structure supports this mission through specific divisions. The education division, for example, conducts community service, training, and seminars, providing a platform to educate alumni on applying SDG principles.
