The Service Learning Community (SLC) is an organization within Universitas Pelita Harapan that organizes and executes community outreach programs. The community is structured into several departments, including a Health Department, an Education and Culture Department, an Environmental Preservation Department, and a Research and Development Department. These departments implement various programs aimed at providing education and support to local communities regarding SDGs. Some examples of SLC’s programs can be seen below:

Business Development (BISDEV)

The Business Development program, organized by the SLC’s Research and Development Department, focuses on developing the economic potential of target villages. The 2024 event was held on April 27, 2024, in Desa Nanggerang. The program aimed to increase awareness and maximize the village’s economic potential. Activities included a seminar titled “Increasing Product Sales” delivered by Dr. Ir. Rudy Pramono, M.Si., and a practical workshop on creating a “Cassava Steamed Cake Dessert Box”. The seminar covered topics such as branding, social media marketing, and sales records. A total of 42 village residents, 26 committee members, and 10 SLC members participated in the event.

Mari Sehat

Mari Sehat is a program by the SLC Health Department. The 2024 event, held on April 20, 2024, at the Kelurahan Bencongan Indah office, operated under the tagline “Hand in Hand, Realize a Healthy Life!”. The program, attended by 45 residents, included a group exercise session (SENAT), a health socialization (SOMKES) focused on stunting, and a workshop on preparing complementary feeding (MPASI) for children. The socialization and workshop were delivered in collaboration with a nutritionist from Rumah Sakit Siloam Lippo Village. A post-event questionnaire showed that 100% of the 38 respondents agreed that the activities increased their health awareness and understanding of stunting prevention.

Mari Membaca

Organized by the Education and Culture Department, Mari Membaca aims to improve reading skills and intention among children. The eighth iteration, “Mari Membaca 8,” took place at SDN 1 Cibugel in 2024. The first phase, on April 20, involved decorating school walls with murals on reading and cultural themes and a seminar for 18 teachers on “Strengthening Literacy by Utilizing Digitalization in Learning”. The second phase, from May 7-8, involved students directly. Activities for students, numbering 208 on the first day and 212 on the second, included seminars on Indonesian diversity, group reading sessions of folk tales, a batik coloring contest , cultural performances, and traditional game posts like Gobak Sodor. Based on student evaluations, 95.2% of participants reported being “happy” on Day 1 and 92.9% on Day 2.

Ocean Sustainability Movement (OSMO)

The Ocean Sustainability Movement (OSMO) is an initiative by the Environmental Preservation Department. The 2024 event was held on May 11, 2024, at Jembatan Pelangi, Desa Lontar. The program’s activities focused on marine conservation, including the planting of 750 mangrove seedlings. Participants, including 28 committee members and 22 volunteers, also attended a seminar on mangrove ecosystems and planting techniques delivered by a partner organization, KeMANGTEER. The initiative also included the creation of five educational video reels posted to Instagram to raise awareness about mangrove preservation.
