TANGERANG, 2023 – In efforts to sustain gender equality in higher education, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) continues to uphold its commitment to empowering women through its transparent and inclusive admission practices. UPH’s dedication to gender equality is not merely a public statement but is tangibly reflected in its data-driven approach to monitoring gender representation among applicants and students.

In 2023, 67.9% of the 4,736 new students enrolled at UPH were female — a notable 5% increase from the previous year, when women made up 62.9% of 2,816 enrolled students. After the completion of the final enrollment process, a total of 3,917 students officially joined UPH, with female students still comprising 67.7% of the cohort.

These consistent figures reflect UPH’s commitment to equitable access and fair evaluation, ensuring that all admissions are based solely on academic and non-academic merit, regardless of gender. The university also provides scholarship opportunities for students, including women from financially challenged backgrounds, further emphasizing its mission to make quality education accessible for all.

This upward trend highlights UPH’s ongoing effort to create a supportive and inclusive academic environment, where women are encouraged to thrive and contribute meaningfully to their chosen fields. Beyond admissions, UPH maintains equal opportunities in academic and non-academic employment, ensuring that every selection process upholds the university’s principles of meritocracy, fairness, and nondiscrimination.

As universities worldwide continue to strengthen their diversity and inclusion initiatives, UPH aspires to be a leading example in Indonesia’s higher education sector — demonstrating that gender equality is not only an institutional policy but a measurable and lived reality across all levels of the university community.
