Universitas Pelita Harapan Enhances Campus Accessibility for People with Disabilities

TANGERANG, 2023 – Universitas Pelita Harapan has established comprehensive infrastructure to ensure its campus is fully accessible for individuals with disabilities. The institution has focused on creating an inclusive and accommodative environment through structural modifications across its facilities.
Key features of this initiative include ensuring all buildings are wheelchair accessible. Campus structures have been systematically equipped with ramps and lifts, facilitating unimpeded movement between floors and various university areas. This allows students, staff, and visitors with mobility challenges to navigate the campus independently and safely. Accommodating not only impediments to mobility; all lifts in UPH buildings are also equipped with braille lettering, ensuring those with visual impairment can still find their way in UPH buildings. Special “Accessible Toilets” are also provided with features such as a handrail to aid those with movement disabilities, as well as a wider space for wheelchairs.

The effort aims to remove physical barriers to education and participation in campus life. By integrating these accessible facilities, the institution ensures that all members of its community have equal opportunities to engage in academic programs, utilize resources such as libraries and laboratories, and participate in social events. This approach supports a more equitable learning environment for everyone.
