Mari Sehat 2024: Empowering Communities for Health and Well-being

TANGERANG, 2024 – On April 20, 2024, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH), through its Service Learning Community (SLC), held Mari Sehat 2024 in Kelurahan Bencongan Indah, Tangerang, a densely populated urban local neighborhood, home to many young families and daily workers. Despite its rapid growth, the area still faces challenges in public health awareness, particularly in child nutrition and preventive health practices.
This year’s Mari Sehat carried the theme “Bergandengan Erat, Wujudkan Hidup Sehat” and aimed to promote healthy living through education and participation. The program opened with Senam Sehat, where residents joined group exercises to encourage physical activity and combat sedentary habits. It was followed by an interactive health seminar addressing local issues like stunting prevention, delivered by Hanna Widya Pramandari, S.Gz, RD from Siloam Hospital Lippo Village.
A hands-on MPASI (complementary feeding) workshop became a key highlight, equipping mothers with practical skills to prepare nutritious meals for infants and toddlers. Out of 45 participants, 38 actively joined all sessions, with 100% reporting improved knowledge of stunting, nutrition, and healthy practices.
By combining education, community engagement, and health empowerment, Mari Sehat 2024 successfully strengthened public health awareness in Bencongan Indah, fostering long-term wellness and healthier family habits within the community.
