Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) engages in international research and academic collaboration to exchange knowledge, identify and review real practices and approaches that can support the SDGs. Through international conferences and research exchanges, UPH connects researchers and practitioners from different countries to explore approaches to sustainability, economic resilience, innovation, and green development.

International Research Exchange through IConEnt 2024

A key example was the 4th International Conference on Entrepreneurship (IConEnt 2024), organised by the Faculty of Economics and Business UPH on November 14, 2024. Held under the theme “The Future Work: Advancing Employment and Entrepreneurship for Sustainable Economic Growth”, the conference brought together 250 participants from eight countries, including Indonesia, Singapore, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Japan, Germany, and the United States.

The international forum enabled researchers and academics to exchange approaches to sustainable economic growth, entrepreneurship, employment, supply-chain resilience, and green financing. Among the international contributions was research by Hannah J. Stolze, Ph.D., of Baylor University, USA, which examined supply-chain resilience through the case of Dr Bronner’s and explored how sustainability-orientated strategies can help businesses remain resilient during global crises.

The conference also featured research by Dr Reynaldi Hermansjah, President Director of PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur Indonesia, on green financing and sustainable economic growth, highlighting approaches for maintaining economic development while reducing environmental impacts.

These comparative research perspectives enabled participants to examine different approaches to business resilience, green financing, sustainable entrepreneurship, and economic development, contributing to the exchange of knowledge and practices relevant to SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), and SDG 13 (Climate Action).

International Exchange of Technology and Sustainability Approaches

UPH also participated in the 2nd International Conference on Technology Innovation and Its Applications (ICTIIA 2024) on September 12-13, 2024, bringing together international researchers and academic institutions, including National Cheng Kung University, Taiwan, and the National University of Singapore.

The conference facilitated the exchange of research and approaches in emerging technologies, including green software, green cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and smart traffic management. These international research exchanges provided opportunities to examine how technological innovation can be applied to sustainability challenges and support the development of approaches relevant to SDG 9, SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and SDG 12.

Through these international collaborations, UPH provides platforms for researchers to compare approaches, share research findings, and exchange practical knowledge on sustainable development. By connecting Indonesian researchers with international academic and professional networks, UPH contributes to the development and dissemination of practices that can support progress toward the SDGs.
