TANGERANG, 2024 – Rooted in its vision to nurture holistic growth, Universitas Pelita Harapan (UPH) is committed to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive academic environment where students can thrive holistically. This commitment includes providing access to sexual and reproductive health services, as well as equipping students with the necessary knowledge and resources to prevent and respond to gender-based violence. One of UPH’s flagship initiatives in this area is the ELEFAITH (Elevating Faith) 2024 Charity Concert & Talkshow, held on April 23–24, 2024, at UPH Lippo Village Campus.

Under the theme Empowering UPH Community to Stand Against Sexual Harassment: Prevent, Protect, and Prevail”, ELEFAITH 2024 addressed one of the most pressing issues in higher education: sexual harassment and violence. The program was a collaborative effort involving Student Development & Alumni Relations (SDAR), the UPH Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence (Satgas PPKS), student organizations, and external partners such as BUNDlifetainment and Yayasan Pulih.

ELEFAITH 2024 was not a one-off initiative but part of a broader campaign. Throughout March and April, UPH hosted student leader training on gender equality and reproductive health, poster competitions, public declarations of a sexual harassment-free campus, and photo exhibitions to raise awareness. A key highlight of this pre-event series was the “UPH Declaration Against Sexual Violence” (Deklarasi UPH Bebas dari Kekerasan Seksual) held on 7 March 2024, where students, faculty, and staff collectively pledged to uphold a campus culture rooted in dignity, justice, and compassion. Representatives from student organizations, campus units, and the Ambassadors of UPH joined hands in signing and imprinting colorful handprints on a symbolic board, affirming their shared commitment to create a safe learning environment free from any form of sexual misconduct. This declaration underscored UPH’s belief that prevention must be collective and continuous, empowering every member of the university to act as advocates for respect, equality, and protection within and beyond the campus.

The event combined artistic expression with educational outreach. On the first day, the Charity Concert featured performances by UPH student arts groups, fostering solidarity and raising funds to support free counseling services for survivors of sexual violence. On the second day, the Talk Show brought together policymakers and experts, including a message from the Indonesian Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, alongside discussions led by child and family psychologists. The sessions provided students with critical education on sexual and reproductive health rights, safe reporting mechanisms, and survivor support services.

These efforts are supported structurally by the UPH Satgas PPKS, established in December 2022, which functions as a permanent unit providing prevention, reporting, and handling mechanisms for sexual harassment cases. The task force actively conducts educational modules on gender equity, sexual and reproductive health education, and prevention strategies for the entire university community. Students are encouraged to report cases through accessible channels, including a dedicated email and online reporting system, ensuring confidentiality and rapid response.

Through ELEFAITH and the ongoing work of Satgas PPKS, UPH not only raises awareness but also delivers concrete services in sexual and reproductive health, protection, and education. This holistic approach empowers students to become agents of change, championing safety, dignity, and well-being both on campus and in wider society.
